Alan Thicke Father of “Blurred Lines” Singer Robin Thicke Dies at 69
Alan Thicke the celebrity father of “Blurred Lines” singer, Robin Thicke had a heart attack on Tuesday 13th December while playing hockey with his son, Carter. He was rushed to Providence St. Joseph’s hospital where he was later pronounced dead at the age of 69.
He is survived by his three sons Carter, Brennan and Robin Thicke – the “Blurred Lines” singer… and his wife, Tanya.
Robin Thicke’s publicist confirmed his death on Tuesday evening. When Robin Thicke was asked to comment about his father on Tuesday evening, he mentioned that he was not only a gentleman but also the greatest man he had ever met. He further confirmed that his father suffered a heart attack while playing hokey with his brother Carter.
Based on Robin Thicke’s response, it is clear that he regarded him highly; he credited his father as an accomplished musician and actor who not only inspired him but also supported him in his music career.
Carter who had shared the last moments with his father mentioned, “One of the last things he said to me was a complement on a nice shot I had made”.
A Singer, A Songwriter and An Actor
Alan Thicke was a Canadian singer, songwriter and an actor, who will be best remembered in the United States for role he played in the family sitcom, “Growing Pains”. He played the role of, Dr. Jason Seaver, a psychiatrist, and also as reassuring father, who meticulously solved his family problems in a warm homily manner. The show set the pace for parenting ideals in the 80’s hence earning him the nickname America’s Dad.
Being a man of multiple talents he composed various theme songs for television shows such as “The Facts of Life, and “Different Stokes” sitcoms and also the “Celebrity Sweepstakes” and the “The Joker’s Wild” theme songs.
In his height of his career he featured in the popular soap opera “The Bold and the Beautiful” as Rich Ginger — the talk show host, and more recently made appearances on “How I Met Your Mother” a popular television show.
Mr. Thicke’s career hasn’t always been smooth sailing. Though he had hosted a myriad of shows with some being successful, other shows performed dismally and were accompanied by harsh critical response.
A Family Man
Thicke has also been divorced two times, and managed to take custody of all his sons. Fortunately, it seems that failure inspired Thicke to do better or keep moving forward. Thicke had once mentioned that, he drew his parenting skills from the role he played for 7 years as dad in the sitcom “Growing Pains”.
It is unfortunate that the would has lost another great talent.
